Solis ESS Solar Batteries – Scalable, Robust Energy Storage

Solis ESS is the energy storage / battery line from Solis (ESS Co.), offering a variety of battery configurations for home to large-scale / microgrid applications. Their systems use LiFePO₄ chemistry and are designed for reliability, modularity, and good safety.

Key Types & Series of Solis Batteries

Here are some of the battery types and models Solis offers, covering different uses:

Wall-Mounted Lithium Batteries

Compact units meant for households.

Examples: ~2.5 kWh, 5.12 kWh, 10.24 kWh capacities.

Nominal voltage ~51.2V (also called 48V variants in some models).

Modular & scalable: you can choose size depending on home needs.

Racked Lithium Battery Packs

Larger battery packs mounted on racking systems.

Capacities vary with model: e.g. 5-20 kWh systems (e.g. 2.5-20 kWh depending on how many units are stacked).

Higher Ah ratings (e.g. 100Ah, 150Ah, 200Ah).

Good for residential setups that need more storage (longer backup or larger load).

Ground / Outdoor Lithium Battery Packs

Designed for outdoor or ground-mounted use.

Some models have IP protection for outdoor use.

Example sizes: ~2.8 kWh up to ~11-12 kWh in stacked units.

Scalable: multiple packs can be connected for higher capacity.

High-Capacity / Container / ESS Systems

For larger, commercial, or microgrid scale energy storage.

Example: “battery containers” with capacities from ~15.36 kWh to ~20.48 kWh in smaller container systems.

Also, very large systems up to ~1 MW power; or multi-hundreds of kWh in energy capacity in standard ESS containers.

Designed for higher voltage, high current, large scale deployment.

Key Specifications & Performance Highlights

Here are some of the technical specs that are common or important in Solis batteries:

Battery Chemistry: LiFePO₄ (lithium iron phosphate) — good safety, long life, stable chemistry.

Voltage & Ah Ratings: Many wall-mounted units are ~51.2V (or 48V equivalent). Ah ratings vary (50Ah, 100Ah, 150Ah, 200Ah in many racked / wall-mount models).

Usable Energy / Capacity:

Wall units: ~2.5 to ~10 kWh usable in standard models.

Larger units / containers: tens to hundreds of kWh depending on configuration.

Cycle Life: Many models guarantee ~6000 cycles at ~25°C (i.e. design to retain capacity over many charge/discharge cycles).

Current Capability / Charge & Discharge Rates: Some packs support 1C rates or near; discharge / charge currents scale with capacity. Higher packs also support parallel / series expansion.

Operating Temperature / Environmental Conditions: Many models support charge above 0°C to ~45–50°C; discharge sometimes down to -20°C (depending on model). Some have IP protection (walls or racks rated for outdoor/humid environments) or use for indoor installations.

Advantages & What Makes Solis Batteries Good

Modular & Scalable: You can pick small, mid, or large capacity depending on need. Start with small units and expand later by adding more modules.

High Cycle Life & Durability: LiFePO₄ chemistry with good ratings gives long lifespan.

Flexibility: Both wall-mount and racked, outdoor/ground packs; various voltages and capacities.

Backup & Hybrid Capability: With the right inverter + battery combo, Solis batteries support backup or hybrid usage in solar systems.

Good safety & protection features: BMS (battery management system), design for prismatic cells etc., strong physical design.

Things to Check or Consider

Always make sure your inverter or system supports the battery voltage, current and capacity you choose. Compatibility is crucial.

In hot climates or cold ones, check the operating temperature limits. Some models need good ventilation or protection.

Depth of Discharge (DoD) & usable energy matters—some nominal kWh may not be fully usable.

Warranty terms: how many years, how many cycles, what capacity retention after many cycles.

Physical size, weight and installation logistics—larger packs or container units need space & proper mounting.
